Discipleship

The Vision

Discipleship is all about movement. Spiritual growth is not characterized by stagnation, but rather moving forward to become more like Jesus. The vision for discipleship at Calvary Fellowship is, “Growing with one another towards maturity in Christ.” This statement provides a clear goal of what we want to accomplish both as individuals and as a church body.

The Model

“Growing with one another towards maturity in Christ” illustrates not only the goal of the discipleship, but also the means by which it can be accomplished. “With one another” is vital to the success of discipleship. While we can enjoy fellowship with Christ individually, we cannot experience true growth apart from community with fellow believers. “Growing towards maturity in Christ” is, has been, and will always be something accomplished with others.

“Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”” (Matthew 28:18-20 NIV)
